This piece of propaganda is an example of the emotional appeal technique because it appeals to the viewer's sense of pity and uses that emotion to make them buy war bonds. The girl stares at you pleadingly, grime and tear stains caked on her face. As long as you're human, you feel pity for her; that pity urges you do what she asks: "BUY WAR BONDS" and release her from the evil that has caught her. Emotional appeal is powerful because most people have feelings and a lot of our actions are dictated by emotion, not by logic (sometimes it's not the best thing ever). We think that we are helping the girl but in reality she may be walking away from the modeling studio as we walk to buy war bonds for the government.
