BANDWAGON
This piece of propaganda is an example of the bandwagon technique, which convinces people to do something by saying that everybody else is doing it, preying on the social and group tendencies of many people. The amount of people going into the army is vast, as portrayed here, and the words “Step into your place,” tell people that their duty is laid out for them and that all they have to do is step into it. Whoever sees this piece of propaganda initially feels left out because of the vast number of people, ranging from miners to businessmen to men with top hats and a Thomas Jefferson look-alike (in the bottom middle), are all going to fight. By portraying the war as a universal effort that everybody has a duty to contribute to, the propaganda encourages individuals to join the effort.
